Monterey

The top photo is of two sea otters in Monterey Bay. Next there's a photo of the Fish House restaurant, a very good seafood place in Monterey, and finally, some seals, also in Monterey.

Bay Model

In Sausalito, they have a model of the entire San Francisco Bay and its tributaries. It's impossible to get the whole thing in one photo since it's several acres in size. The army corps of engineers used to use it to figure out what would happen in the real bay if they did various engineering projects. These days, they use super computers for that. There's no water in the model at present. It's under repair. Now they use it as an educational destination for tourists and school kids.

Medicine Woman

Normally, I don't put pictures of paintings in my blog. I include this painting, which I saw in Sonoma, because it shows a medicine woman examining a patient with an anterior shoulder dislocation. It's clear from the painting that she knows what she's seeing, and that she'll also know how to reduce the dislocation.

General Joseph Hooker House

This is Myra posing in front of Gen. Joe Hooker's house in Sonoma. I told her to pose like that because I was under the apparently false impression that the term, hooker, comes from the camp followers who followed Gen. Hooker's brigade around during the Civil War. But today, I looked it up, and it turns out that the term appeared in print in 1845, long before Hooker became a public figure.

Wine Country

Here's a picture of Edwin and Myra at Sonoma Traintown Railroad. Edwin wanted to take the train tour of wine country, but at this time of year, the train only runs three days a week. You'll note from the empty parking lot that this wasn't one of those days. You'll also note that Edwin, a lifelong New Yorker, is a Yankee fan.

Golden Gate Bridge

After the Bat Mitzvah weekend, I set out on a road trip with my cousin, Edwin, and his lady friend, Myra. Our first stop was the view point just north of the Golden Gate Bridge where I indulged my hobby of taking pictures of things and places where millions of other people have taken photographs. In the background is Presidio Park on the south side of the Golden Gate.

Becky Berman's Bat Mitzvah

I'm finally getting around to putting up some photos of my recent vacation. The vacation began with a trip to the San Francisco area the celebrate my cousin Becky Berman's Bat Mitzvah. For the gentiles who might be reading this, boys have a Bar Mitzvah (meaning something like son of goodness) and girls have a Bat Mitzvah (daughter of goodness). It's kind of like a confirmation.
