This is the blog I started when Carolyn died. I had to stop blogging under Henry and Carolyn Farkas Second Honeymoon Blog so this is where I continued blogging once I decided to continue blogging. Now there's a new blog that's a strange kind of memoir that's also a bunch of random essays rather than photos with short essays. That one is Henry Farkas Memoir Blog

A Nice Memorial to my Wife From the Friends of the Cecil County Library
We Remember…
A tireless and committed volunteer for the Friends of
the Library, Carolyn Farkas served on the Friends’
board for two three-year terms, returning several
years later to start another set of three-year terms.
From 1994-1996 and from 1996-1999, Carolyn was
an active member of the Friends’ board of directors.
She dropped off the board for a couple of years and
rejoined in 2002, serving as secretary of the board
from 2002-2004. During her second (in reality,
fourth), three-year term, she resigned in 2006 for
health reasons. What a gift of time and energy she
bestowed on the Friends!
Carolyn brought to the board her exhaustive knowl-
edge of and esteem for the printed word. Her ideas
and concerns about raising money for library efforts
revealed her love of language and her efforts to share
that passion with others. She suggested money-
raising plans that brought in considerable dollars, and
she never lacked for comments about how these sug-
gestions should be executed.
For years, Carolyn was the Better Books room CEO
at the Friends Book and Bake Sale. She reigned as
she sat behind the table, waxing eloquently about
whatever volume the buyer happened to pick up for
perusal, contributing snippets of her knowledge that
generally resulted in a sale. She enjoyed holding
forth in that room, and the book sale’s bottom line
benefited.
At board meetings, Carolyn contributed innovative
marketing ideas and insightful commentary on what-
ever topic was under debate, and she wove into her
remarks a delightful wit that lightened the mood and
balanced the conversation. Once off the board, Caro-
lyn and her husband, Henry, remained ardent sup-
porters of Friends’ fundraising events and contributed
generously. Carolyn created a unique and valued
niche on the Friends of the Library’s board and is
greatly missed.
